4 simple steps to get you started

1. Gather your Pink Stumps Day crew/ committee

Bring together a small group of volunteers, committee members, players, parents or supporters to help plan and promote your day.

2. Brainstorm your fundraising ideas

  • Pink up your players (for a donation!)
  • Challenge the opposition to match your fundraising total
  • Host a Pink Lunch, BBQ or post-match party
  • Run raffles, auctions or lucky door prizes
Choose one or two fundraising activities to focus on. Keeping it simple makes it easier to promote and manage on the day.

3. Get your community involved

Reach out to local businesses and supporters who can help by:
  • Donating prizes or auction items
  • Sponsoring an activity, boundary, run or wicket
  • Promoting your event through their networks
  • Making a cash donation

Pakenham's Pink Stumps Day, everyone gets involved

Pakenham Cricket Club held its first Pink Stumps Day in 2014. Over the years, the event has grown bigger and better.

Here are their four favourite moments, and why they keep coming back:

1. We love how the community shows up. From the players and the umpires to the 200+ guests to our local businesses. Seeing the wider club community show up for the McGrath Foundation makes us so proud.
2. On the day looking around the function room and seeing everyone  dressed in pink, enjoying the day and being part of a happy atmosphere is so rewarding and overwhelming for those who organised the day.
3. Listening to the inspirational guest speakers, their stories of the experiences they had to navigate  when diagnosed with cancer and the way they speak about glowingly about the support they received from the McGrath Cancer Care Nurses is always incredibly emotional.
4. The positive feedback that people share after the event about how they had a great time, the media coverage, Facebook comments and the  gratitude from the McGrath Foundation Team is always a lovely way to end the event.
