McGrath Cancer Care Nurses help individuals and their families affected by cancer by providing invaluable clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.Â

My Name is Melanie Rose, I am a Centre Director with Kids Club Tweed Heads. This fundraiser is deeply personal to me as I have recently completed treatment for aggressive triple-negative breast cancer, and my own experience has shown me the incredible importance of support throughout my cancer journey. I lost a loved one to cancer in December last year and now our team member is preparing to say goodbye to her father who is receiving end-of-life care. These experiences remind us that cancer affects not only the individual diagnosed but also their loved ones, carers, friends, and the wider community. Our morning tea is an opportunity to bring our families, educators, and community together to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, while showing support for everyone whose lives have been impacted by cancer. We hope to honour those who have faced this disease, celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and help ensure others receive the care and support they need during their own cancer journey.
