SSBCSG / Sutherland Shire Breast Cancer Support Group

Pink is the colour of care

We are  fundraising to ensure that no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses help individuals and their families affected by cancer by providing invaluable clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.

We are so lucky to have McGrath Nurses at Sutherland and St George public Hospitals and really appreciate the support they give/gave us on our breast cancer journeys.

Thank you so much for your support.

My Post

28/10/25 Sutherland Hospital Caringbah Breast Cancer Awareness Stall

Lovely to see some of our support group ladies who happily volunteered to help the local McGrath breast care nurses run a breast cancer awareness stall at the Sutherland Public hospital today.
Lots of chatting with people, reminding them to check their boobs (and surrounds!), get their mammograms, dispelling myths and generally having a great time talking with people.

22/10/25 The St George Hospital Kogarah Breast Cancer Awareness Stall

The St George Breast Cancer Awareness Stall was a huge success today at St George Hospital !
All went well thanks to all the volunteers .
Staff and the general public came, talked, felt the breast lump teaching tool, took away resource information,
AND BreastScreen NSW also took 13 bookings!!
Plus a number of inquiries.
Well done to everyone.
A couple of stories from today -
A Mum was inquiring as the daughter has a little lump behind her implant and had been fobbed off by GP. It’s just a fibroid. Don’t worry about it. We encouraged her to get a proper screening done and she booked one.
A man who will now ask his sister to come along and have a screen.
Staff member who booked in for the first mammogram, after having avoided doing it for years.
A lady interested in coming to the support group.

Caringbah /Sutherland Hospital stall next week on Tuesday 28th.
