My Post

My journey so far

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer february 2024. Grade 3 hormonal agressive common cancer.
Since then I have had surgery on 25th march 2024 having right mastectomy, containg 2 large cancerous lumps, lymph node clearance 6 of 8 were cancerous and 2 cancerous lymph nodes in my  chest wall that could not be operated on. I underwent 4 rounds of "red devil" chemo, half way through this I did a couple of fundraising events for McGrath Foundation raising $13k with a mother's day raffle and a barefoot bowls night. Went another 12 rounds of chemo then 32 sessions (7weeks of daily Monday to Friday) of radiation. Had the pleasure of being a guest speaker at 2 breast cancer fundraising events, speaking about my journey. Had a break over Christmas and started new medication before my upcoming surgery removing my ovaries and tubes. I have experienced 1st hand how valuable the McGrath nurses are. Without them being with me during my early stages through all the tests, pushing for early appointments, results and explaining in a way I could understand. You struggle to listen and retain all the information. They visit you the day after surgery making sure you are ok, do you need anything. Check you have everything you need. You really get that feeling that as hard as this journey will be you have someone you can reply on and know they are making sure you get what you need to do so. That is why I decided during treatment to help, there are not enough nurses. This is how we can help, raise much needed money for more of these true angels ?
