Brissy For Brocky
On the 1st of June, myself and some amazing friends and family will be running the Brisbane Marathon in memory of my dad, aka ‘Brocky.’ Dad was a fun, generous, and kind soul who brought joy to everyone he met. In 2018, he was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer at the age of 50 and faced his 5-year battle with incredible courage and resilience. Sadly, we lost him last July, but his memory lives on, and this run is to honor his legacy.
For anyone who knew Brocky, his love of cricket was unmatched. Our family also experienced firsthand the amazing impact cancer nurses can have on families navigating such difficult times. That’s why we’ve chosen to fundraise for the McGrath Foundation, an incredible charity that provides cancer care nurses to support individuals and their families affected by all types of cancers. These nurses offer not just medical care but emotional support that makes a world of difference.
We’ve also created a running team for anyone who’d like to join us in honoring Dad’s legacy. Whether you’re up for the full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), or 10km run, let me know and I’ll send the link to join our team.
Every dollar raised will go directly to the McGrath Foundation, ensuring they can continue their vital work supporting families in need. Whether it’s a small donation or simply sharing this page, your support will make a big difference. Together, we can help bring comfort and care to those who need it most, just as Dad and our family experienced during his journey.
